When God Speaks but Nothing Moves Yet

The story of Jericho in Joshua 6 isn’t just about ancient walls. It’s about the kind of obedience that feels illogical—until it unlocks breakthrough.

What do you do when God gives a promise, but nothing around you confirms it?

1. The Setup: A Promise Before Progress

Joshua 6:2“See, I have given Jericho into your hand…”

This declaration came before the walls fell, not after.

  • Jericho was fortified. No one in or out.

  • God gives Joshua a word.

  • The people are told to walk in silence around a city for seven days.

No swords. No battering rams. Just trust and obedience.

2. The Power of Silent Obedience

Imagine the Israelites after day one: nothing changed.
After day three: still silent.
Day six? Still no cracks. Just more marching.

This is the tension many of us live in—we’ve started the journey, but we’re unsure if we’re getting anywhere. Progress isn’t obvious. Doubt creeps in.

“Many have the faith to start, but not the fortitude to finish.”

3. Why Fortitude Matters More Than Momentum

The people didn’t know the full plan—only Joshua did. That means they obeyed without knowing how long it would take.

They walked without evidence.

That’s faith.
Not wishful thinking—anchored obedience.

It’s why we say at Unshakable People:

“Stay obedient. Stay unshakable.”

4. Your ‘Day Seven’ Might Be Next

The walls fell on the last lap—after years of fear and seven days of obedience.

  • What if you’re one lap away from your breakthrough?

  • What if the silence is where your strength is being refined?

Jericho didn’t fall because of noise.
It fell because of obedience.

5. Application: Obey Before You Understand

Here’s your reframe:

  • You’re not circling your problem—you’re circling your promise.

  • You’re not being ignored—you’re being prepared.

  • The outcome isn’t your responsibility—obedience is.

Scripture Anchor for the Week:

Joshua 6:2“See, I have given Jericho into your hand, its king and its strong warriors.”

Don’t Quit at Lap Six

You may feel stuck, but you’re likely being positioned.
You’re not delayed. You’re being aligned.

God’s promises are not fragile. But your fortitude will be tested.
