God Doesn’t Live at Church—He Lives in You
Psalm 103:7 says something subtle but seismic:
“He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel.”
Moses knew God. Israel watched Him.
Moses pursued presence. Israel waited for outcomes.
This distinction still echoes through our lives today—and it’s one of the greatest spiritual invitations we’ll ever receive.
1. Do You Want His Ways or Just His Works?
Most people are content to observe what God does.
Few choose to know how He moves.
-
Moses leaned in. Israel hung back.
-
Moses sought friendship. Israel followed convenience.
-
Moses experienced God’s character. Israel only experienced His response.
The question is simple but personal:
Do you want to know His ways or just see His acts?
2. Personal Worship Creates Public Breakthrough
In our home, Alisha and I often talk about the difference between:
-
Omnipresence: God is always everywhere.
-
Manifest Presence: God chooses to reveal Himself in a tangible way.
One is passive. The other is personal.
And what you cultivate in private shapes what we experience in public.
Let that settle in.
3. Three Truths That Reshape Corporate Worship
Here’s what we’ve learned—and what we teach:
-
What we do individually shapes what we experience collectively.
-
How we live outside church impacts what we receive inside church.
-
Private obedience fuels corporate power.
We often miss God in the room because we’ve ignored Him in the quiet. And then we wonder why He feels distant during worship or prayer.
The presence of God isn’t a program.
It’s a person waiting to be pursued.
4. Stop Coming to Church Empty-Handed
Let’s be honest: many of us come to church expecting something from people instead of bringing something to God.
We want the Word without the walk. The breakthrough without the process.
But when you carry personal fire, you don’t need to borrow someone else’s spark.
You come ready—expecting heaven, regardless of the room.
5. God Moves in the Mess
You don’t have to be whole to walk in.
You don’t have to fake it to be used.
Come with your burdens, your guilt, your failure—and let Him meet you there.
“He prepares a table before you in the presence of your enemies.” (Psalm 23:5)
He isn’t scared of your enemies—or your emotions.
He’s just waiting for your yes.
6. What If We Actually Lived This Way?
Below are 21 reframes adapted from Decisions That Define Us (Vacaville, CA).
They’re more than declarations. They’re a call to live unshakable.
What If…
-
We believed good doctrine without demonstration is incomplete?
-
We stopped treating church like a club and started acting like a mission?
-
We refused to settle for Bible studies that never lead to transformation?
-
We valued character more than gifting—and presence more than programs?
-
We believed faith without works is powerless, and works without love are hollow?
-
We stopped reading Acts and started living it?
-
We believed in the Holy Spirit so deeply that signs and wonders followed us?
-
We got tired of hearing stories—and started telling our own?
-
We lived saved but also supernatural?
-
We saw ourselves as a battleship, not a cruise ship—warriors, not watchers?
-
We refused to settle on someone else’s breakthrough—but built from it?
-
We became contagious, not cautious—radical lovers and outrageous givers?
-
We ran toward the impossible, even if we failed, because He was in it?
-
We said, “nothing short of His Kingdom come will satisfy us”?
-
We lived so boldly that the world would say: “Those who turn the world upside down have come here too”? (Acts 17:6)
Final Thought: The Manifest Presence Starts With You
God wants to move in you before He moves through you.
The question isn’t will He show up at church—the question is will you show up at His feet?
Scripture Anchor for the Week:
